The problem
There's a second hand resale boom happening - but it's hit a big barrier for business owners try to scale their operations. There's no smart solution to streamline and accommodate for stores that look to sell both on, and offline in person. It's a particularly big one when you also consider you’re dealing with 100s of unique items being sold and dropped off, all with their own unique price points and categorisation.
Service blueprint
With staff at Ribbn’s physical location, we mapped the service end to end of receiving, checking and listing a product in a physical store and registering it online- a high friction and time consuming process, to be completed for each unique item.
MVP attribution flow
We ideated on using an RFID solution and the industrial design team created renders for a sustainable, re-usable and programmable tag that had the ability to update in realtime based on its sale status online.
Creating a re-sale platform, driven by AI
We created various workflows from our insights with the Ribbn resale team, informing the prioritisation of features and structure of the platform to best suit the needs of resale businesses.
Defining the platform experience
Wireframes and final interactive prototypes for the whole platform were created for Ribbn to trial and test before implementation. Attribution flows, inventory management and creating a webpage builder for users to build their own store were some of the key functions for the initial launch.
Effortless attribution and listing driven by AI
Utilising image recognition and labelling, product attribution for second hand items comes pre-filled and ready to approve. Natural language processing for both search. Generation of descriptions & tags
An inventory to act on
From observing and researching the work flow of the second hand retail crew, we chose an action-led dashboard where the items closest to being added to the store take prominence. The retrieval to listing process has many stages- unifying and getting an overview of these tasks and where the item is in the attribution process is priceless.
The result
Ribbn is now live- scaling resale operations and gaining traction.
